We are thrilled to share our October 2024 Newsletter with you! This edition features an engaging talk by Allan Williamson about his journey down the Mississippi River on the American Queen paddle steamer. Club President Bill Mutch praised Allan as one of the best speakers he has ever heard, mentioning that Allan’s storytelling made him feel as if he was on the paddle steamer himself.
In September, we hosted another one of our popular coffee mornings at Gloria Jean’s Café in The Boundary shopping centre, Henderson. Raymond and Suzanne Barrett attended, and a lovely photograph of them was featured in the newsletter.
Although not an official club event, many of our members joined the Avondale-Waterview Historical Society for an outing to Ryders on Riversdale Road. The selected movie was enjoyed by all, and the roast meal was described as “even better than restaurant quality” by one of our members.
