The dining room at Ryders on Riversdale Road

Ready for a fantastic day out this spring? Mark your calendars for Tuesday, 2 September 2025 – we’re heading to the iconic Ryders Cinema in Avondale for a perfect combination of classic entertainment and delicious food!
We’ll be screening “Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines” (1965), a brilliant comedy following the chaos of a 1910 London-to-Paris air race. This classic features an all-star cast including Robert Morley, the wonderfully villainous Sir Percy played by Terry-Thomas, plus memorable cameos from comedy legends Benny Hill, Tony Hancock, and Eric Sykes. It’s the perfect feel-good film to kick off the new season!

Items from Auckland City’s past on display at the Ryder property

If you’ve never been to Ryder’s Cinema, you’re in for a treat! The venue showcases an incredible collection of memorabilia gathered by the late Jack Ryder, making it a truly unique Auckland experience. By booking this event, we’re not just treating ourselves to a great day out – we’re also supporting Clint Ryder in keeping this special venue alive and protecting it from potential development that could destroy this piece of local history.
