At our June 2023 monthly meeting, we were honoured to have Prof David Gerrard as our guest speaker. Prof Gerrard is not only a distinguished medical doctor and academic, but also a former Olympic and Commonwealth Games swimmer who has served in various roles for the NZ Olympic team. He shared with us his insights and experiences from his long and illustrious career in sports medicine, in a talk titled Sex and Drugs: Confessions of an Olympic team doctor. He covered topics such as drug misuse, sports politics, Hall of Shame and issues of transgender sport, with honesty, humour and wisdom. It was a fascinating and enlightening talk that inspired and entertained us all. Thank you, Prof Gerrard, for your generosity and expertise!
What a wonderful time we had at our club’s mid-winter lunch! We gathered at the Swanson RSA, a cozy and welcoming venue with a sumptuous buffet lunch. Thank you to everyone who came and made this event a success.
